Human intelligence and God.

Human intelligence and God.

Human intelligence is woefully insufficient to understand who or what God is. Human intelligence is the anti-thesis of faith because it needs sufficient proof of God's existence before it can express that faith. The mind doesn't get redeemed when one becomes a Christian, we are given a new mind, the mind of Christ. "For who has known the mind of the Lord, that he will instruct Him? But we have the mind of Christ." 1 Corinthians 2:16 | NASB. The human intellect is fallible, and so is our reason and this is why we are required to have faith to please God. God gave us intelligence and a mind, not to frustrate his redemption plan, the mind is neutral and can be used for good or evil. On judgement Day, we will be judged on how we used our minds and intelligence. God's purpose for giving us a mind was so that we could use our faculties to worship Him and glorify Him.

The mind is neutral and like our souls, should be used to glorify God. The reason why we get into trouble is because we place our intelligence above God's glory, thus making God in our own image. "For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 19 For it is written, “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, And the cleverness of the clever I will set aside.” 20 Where is the wise man? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? 21 For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not come to know God, God was well-pleased through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe. 22 For indeed Jews ask for signs and Greeks search for wisdom; 23 but we preach Christ crucified, to Jews a stumbling block and to Gentiles foolishness, 24 but to those who are the called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. 25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.26 For consider your calling, brethren, that there were not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble; 27 but God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong, 28 and the base things of the world and the despised God has chosen, the things that are not, so that He may nullify the things that are, 29 so that no man may boast before God. 30 But by His doing you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption, 31 so that, just as it is written, “Let him who boasts, boast in the Lord.” 1 Corinthians 1:18-31 | NASB.

Human potential in it's raw form is opposed to God because it seeks to establish and esteem itself rather than submitting to God and His word. It takes worship away from God, and places it on persons, places, and things. We need to value our lives because it is with our very lives that we have the opportunity to go to Heaven when our lives are over. Our lives by the very nature of God and Christ are redeemable not expendable. We can use the life God has given us to love him freely, then turn and give that same love to the rest of the world. When we say that who we are is more important than what we are, we reduce our human natures to animal natures. When we deny the reason for our existence by saying that I live for myself and my happiness, we are creating a world and existence where no one can or ever will be happy. Human happiness is dependent on human freedom, and a utilitarian view of social structure doesn't eliminate suffering, it in fact compounds it.

Hidden in the shadows of a utilitarian society is the marginalized and vulnerable who suffer profoundly. This is why God has to come back to this earth one day to judge it, because it will have become so self-sufficient that the world would see it's shame for rejecting God. Human intelligence and self-sufficiency go hand in hand, and will lead to God's judgement, because we are insufficient to redeem ourselves, that is why God creates situations where we have to have faith, and rely or trust in God. This is Mike.

On Christian Marriage. (Short)

On Christian Marriage. (Short) The modern co-habitation crisis has produced a lot of single moms and dads, and has fractured "family units" allowing other family members and relatives to take a bigger role in these "Separated families." There isn't a "one cause" why families have separated or divorced, it is a complicated issue, sometimes resulting in very hard emotions for Society to process. Things like the "millennial sexual revolution" have contributed to the widespread "non-committal" attitude, which in turn has given the traditional marriage the "black eye" it currently has and has turned many Christian men away from seeking a life partner. The more society devalues "traditional marriage" the more co-habitation you will see in all the other generations as well as the Millennials. This is Mike.

Why Christians must show Mutual Concern for One another.

Look and see, there is no one at my right hand; no one is concerned for me. I have no refuge; no one cares for my life. Psalm 142:4. Christians in the church should have mutual concern for one another, this is what it means to be part of the body of Christ, 1 Corinthians 12:25. It’s takes good pastoral leadership to foster this sense of concern, and where it is missing, individuals who are suffering in the church are overlooked and not supported. Every believer needs support and encouragement, but when this is missing, the church divides and loses it power and testimony. Christians live like the world, and become vulnerable to Satan’s attacks when nobody is supporting them outside the church. I used to belong to an evangelical church which had great leadership, and something called small groups. This church felt like a family and I had people who shared my Christian walk with me when I was not in the church building. I have been attending a different denomination that doesn’t hav...

The Biblical Meaning of “Life in the Spirit.”

“Life in the Spirit” is an example that the Apostle Paul gives in the book of Romans starting in chapter 5 and going through to chapter 8. He begins by telling us we are justified by faith (5:1), and have gained access by faith into the grace of God (5:2). We have been delivered from God’s wrath (5:9) and we have been reconciled to God through the death of His Son (5:10). He goes on to explain that through Adam all die (5:12), and that the free Gift of God brings justification and righteousness to the believing sinner (5:15-17).   Through our conversion we are baptized into Christ and into his death, which frees us from the law and makes us dead to sin (6:2-4). He explains that just as Christ was raised from the dead, we are given new life in Christ (6:4). Our old unregenerate self was crucified with Christ so that our body of sin might be done away with (6:5-6). Because we have died to sin, we now submit ourselves to God being that we are now under grace, not the law (6:8-1...
