Bible Lessons we can Learn from Noah.
Noah was a righteous man, living in an unrighteousness world. He found favour in the eyes of God, and God decided to spare him and his family during a time of worldwide crisis, otherwise known as the Flood. God made a covenant with Noah that says: 12 God said, “This is the sign of the covenant which I am making between Me and you and every living creature that is with you, for all successive generations; 13 I set My bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a sign of a covenant between Me and the earth. 14 “It shall come about, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow will be seen in the cloud, 15 and I will remember My covenant, which is between Me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and never again shall the water become a flood to destroy all flesh. 16 “When the bow is in the cloud, then I will look upon it, to remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth.” 17 And God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant which I have established between Me and all flesh that is on the earth.” Genesis 9:12-17 | NASB
God loves this earth, and He Promised Noah and us that He wouldn't destroy the earth again with a flood. There are other examples in the bible where God sends supernatural judgment on this earth, and He is right in doing so. Over 2000 years ago, God sent his Son to the earth, not much different from the time of Noah, and our time now. God sent a different kind of judgment and He poured it out on Jesus. This time instead of us suffering the eternal consequences for our sins, Jesus Christ suffered them for us. All we need to do is trust that sacrifice in order to go to Heaven. Just because Jesus suffered for us, doesn't mean that we are always free to do what we want. In Noah's time God sent a flood to judge sin, but that doesn't mean He doesn't judge us now in the same way. Jesus took the eternal consequences for our sins, but if we live like that is not true we will either be judged in this life or the next. There are no exceptions.
In the book of Hebrews which is a new covenant book it says in chapter ten, 26 "For if we go on sinning willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, 27 but a terrifying expectation of judgment and the fury of a fire which will consume the adversaries. 28 Anyone who has set aside the Law of Moses dies without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. 29 How much severer punishment do you think he will deserve who has trampled under foot the Son of God, and has regarded as unclean the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has insulted the Spirit of grace? 30 For we know Him who said, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay.” And again, “The Lord will judge His people.” 31 It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God." Hebrews 10:26-31 | NASB
And it also says, 32 "But remember the former days, when, after being enlightened, you endured a great conflict of sufferings, 33 partly by being made a public spectacle through reproaches and tribulations, and partly by becoming sharers with those who were so treated. 34 For you showed sympathy to the prisoners and accepted joyfully the seizure of your property, knowing that you have for yourselves a better possession and a lasting one. 35 Therefore, do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. 36 For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God, you may receive what was promised." Hebrews 10:32-36 | NASB
In the first portion of scripture God tells us there are real consequences now and in eternity for living with sin. He goes on to say that He has confidence in the Hebrews that despite their hardships they will receive what was promised (Which is Heaven.) God promises us this now, He sees our hearts and he knows our pain, and you will be rewarded if not now, but in eternity. However God still does judge our sins, and we still live in a fallen world, nature rebels, and we need God's grace to make it to Heaven. Noah found His grace, and so will every person who will walk upright like Noah did. This is Mike.
