I can already tell you might be confused about the title of this blog, so let me clear it up. The word economy implies that there is some sort of financial loss or some financial gain to be had in life. The word salvation can have lots of meanings, but the meaning I am talking about here implies the salvation of the soul after death. To answer this question correctly, I have to explain why first, I believe we have a soul. We have a soul because it is who we really are. The bible teaches that man and woman were made in the image of God, but for most of us, we have to believe by faith that there is a God and if you believe there is a God then naturally you will believe you have a soul? To put a price on your soul would be infinite because if we are made in the image of the Creator, then naturally our souls are worth very much! I don't think that you can put a monetary value on your own essence, but the price that we put on the saving of the soul is in direct proportion of that person's values.
There is a difference in the value of a human being, and the values we each have. But the nature of salvation demands that we have value in God, because without that there would be no purpose to living this life with true meaning. We all want to know the meaning of life, or if my life has meaning. Without knowing why we were put here on this earth, we search for value and meaning to have something to live for! Why does life seem so hard at times you may be wondering? I thought that once I made an effort to better myself things would fall into place? Instead, I am filled with anxiety, and my life has no direction or purpose! I think the first mistake (If you can call it that) is looking outside for purpose.
Your self worth is what will give you a sense of value and that is the first step. Without value, we don't see through the mystery of death and suffering, and life becomes so complicated that we see no end to our suffering. Being fully present right now actually gives my life purpose. If I am happy right now, I have found the meaning to my life. It is a great mystery to be given the gift of happiness in the present moment, and lasting joy can be found this side of Heaven if you know what you want in life and if you actually seek it.
The joy comes not from reaching your goal, but during the process of finding God, he blesses me with joy right now. Finding God is not the destination, it is a means to an end and that end doesn't have to be after you die! Salvation is a gift given to mankind to discover who God is, and to also discover who you are. God doesn't save us, then leave us to wallow in life's difficulties. However, if we do wallow he is gently there to give us back ourselves, for if we were just saved to go to Heaven when we die, then this earthly life has no meaning! The question shouldn't be how do I find meaning? It is much bigger than that. For me to realise my potential, I need things. The economy of salvation involves our lives here and now, and the gifts we already have. This is Mike.
