God is a transcendent being. He is the first cause of all Creation. He existed in a transcendental state before the creation of time. When you think of the word transcendent it is hard to put a definition in your mind about what that actually means. To be transcendent as I am going to use the word to describe God, means to be above, literally above human perception. We cannot feel God with our senses, however there are many sensations that we attribute to God falsely. In order to fully know God our senses have to be trained, but to really know God I postulate we must know Him with our minds. The reason alone cannot fully grasp to the transcendent reality of God, and faith leads us to belief but belief in itself doesn't guarantee that one will experience God or Heaven. Because God is transcendent the question we must ask is how do we transcend our own reality to find Him?
In the first book of Romans in the Bible it talks about those who supress the truth in unrighteousness. What this means is that they do not make any attempt to seek God. To find something you must look for it, but if you do not believe something exists you will automatically fail at the attempt. So regardless of what I said above the first step in finding a transcendental God is belief in Him. When you truly believe in God with all of your heart, then next you need to search for him. Your cognizant concept of God will go totally against what the bible teaches about God, unless your belief is structured. Regardless, belief if pursed will eventually lead to faith, and this is where your reason will kick in. Your reason will either solidify your faith, or you will become very rigid and dogmatic and your search for the transcendent God will fail. In order to succeed you must do away with your reason, because faith is not reason no matter what anyone tells you. You must transcend your reason to actually experience God.
Using the senses at this point actually helps, every smell, every delicious meal, and every thought created by the proper use of your senses will lead you closer to experiencing the joy and the bliss that you desire, which is God's essence. God is not the senses, but He created the senses for you to enjoy Him through them. God's essence is also found in your soul. Through proper use of your conscience you will definitely transcend the joyless temporal experience and feel God through your mind. When God can be felt in the body and the mind, you will be happy.
