Most of us remember learning our A, B, C's but it seems our culture is stuck in a pre- twenty first century mind set. With all the advancements in technology, medicine and so forth, I don't think any of us were prepared for the twenty first century. Certainly not the church of Jesus Christ.
We have had to adapt to the negative changes in our culture, in a pre- twenty first century way by conforming to our culture which has proven to be unfruitful and chaotic at best. With our double espresso long, and our skinny cinnamon dolche latte decafs we have taken the material things of our past century and have transferred them into the future.
The music is a bit more wild, and the quality of education and entertainment has relatively stayed the same, with a few minor exceptions. But the quality of the twenty first century man has dramatically degenerated, into a once forbidden fruit which has almost ripened and is waiting to be plucked.
The search for the meaning of life still stays the same, but the only questions that are being answered are purpose questions. And the church is to blame for that. We are filled with purpose, but society is lacking direction, and thus the personal vacuum that death is continually swallowing up.
