A World without Consequences.

Consequences are the things that usually keep us from doing really stupid things. If life had no consequences there would be constant anarchy. It is hard not to feel sometimes that we are living in a crazy world. Political leaders instead of showing humility, are showing brazen arrogance and are failing to lead their people into a safe world, a world that I new all too well growing up. What I feel is an abuse of power, just might be political pride as I am becoming oversensitive to the lack of peace in the world right now. It takes herculean faith these days to have faith these days, and keep your mind and body in a state of rest. It shouldn't be this way. Everyone is connected in this world, whether we like it or not, and sin is at an epidemic level that I sometimes wonder how God in Heaven feels about this period in history.

History and religion has seen it's fare share of abuse, but when people don't feel safe at night in their own homes, because presidents and religious leaders are clearly abusing their power, it leaves the human race feeling a sense of desperation and fear, leading to a fear of God, that is unhealthy and stressful. I do not believe that God created religion and faith as a means to bettering ones life. I believe faith was created by a loving God, so we could experience love. When love is lacking in the political structures of our world, it created abusive religion and fear of man, and ultimately fear of goodness. God is pure goodness, and his bible is pure goodness.

To purify the evil in the world is an impossible job for man, because we have within us a sin nature. We are prone to sin and to do evil, it is in our nature. When society has lost it's way, we don't need another Saviour, at this point I'm not sure what we need. There is so much conflict in the world right now, and yes people who do not believe as we do are not the problem. When an ideology sets out to dominate the thinking of human beings, the first thing to go is freedom of will. We feel powerless when we feel our voices are not being heard, and we feel hopeless when other people dominate over us. Human slavery begins in our minds, and the more we are hammered by people in power the more we feel tired and helpless to change our own lives. Some of us long to escape the pain we are feeling, because we are sure in our own minds that the afterlife will give us some relief.

It is truly a shame we have so much knowledge on our fingertips, and religious and political leaders are blinded by their own self-importance, that killing an entire nation of people becomes a sense of pride and a way to get back. We used to call this warmongering. The church is not innocent. When the poor in spirit, are being abused and ignored, and religion looses it's purpose and meaning, evil flourishes in our societies. The abuse begins in the heart and the quest and greed for more and more, and never being satisfied with our present state. War, is a pure evil. We are living in the century of warfare, we might as well accept it. It is a sad reality, when the human heart rejects God, because God is the only way we can experience happiness and goodness.

Human suffering will never be alleviated in a dark society, and mass darkness is a way of just saying that we all hate each other and wish our neighbour ill will. In the end goodness wins over evil, and there are forces all around us, mostly human forces who are bent on the destruction of the human race. Evil people do evil things, and a soul bereft of light can only create more evil and suffering for all of humanity. This is Mike.

Catholic Identity.

I was born into the Catholic Church and was baptized as an infant, I had my first communion and reconciliation as a child, and was confirmed as a teenager. Although I was never devout, I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Saviour when I was 21 through an evangelical Christian radio ministry, which in turn gave new life to my Catholic faith. Although I remained a Catholic, I identified as a born again Christian. It wasn’t until much later in my life that I learned the difference between the two denominations and what they taught about being born again. Regardless, there was a significant change in my life back then, which continues to this day. Being Catholic is much like an identity to me and I remember growing up under the papacy of St. Pope John Paul II. The culture I grew up in was largely affected by his papacy, and the way the culture viewed the church was significantly different from the way the current culture views it. Growing up, the pope didn’t try to be rele...

Age of Brokenness.

We are living in an age of brokenness, no matter what age you are, you probably have been touched with relationships falling apart, which causes more and more people to live in isolation. In this generation there is less of an incentive to heal and reconcile relationships, but that doesn’t excuse the amount of people who are broken. Why people don’t seem to be motivated to heal relationships is because our beliefs about faith and God have changed, really giving us less of an incentive to do what our religion says. If I act from my personal beliefs, but the person that I am responding to has abandoned religious beliefs, than the response to my wanting things to be better can be misinterpreted and rejected then by someone else. Generally when a society has expectations about broken relationships, loneliness and isolation, and the beliefs are generally accepted, society becomes a more compassionate society, because all value the same things. When religious values are undermined and ...

The Biblical Meaning of “Life in the Spirit.”

“Life in the Spirit” is an example that the Apostle Paul gives in the book of Romans starting in chapter 5 and going through to chapter 8. He begins by telling us we are justified by faith (5:1), and have gained access by faith into the grace of God (5:2). We have been delivered from God’s wrath (5:9) and we have been reconciled to God through the death of His Son (5:10). He goes on to explain that through Adam all die (5:12), and that the free Gift of God brings justification and righteousness to the believing sinner (5:15-17).   Through our conversion we are baptized into Christ and into his death, which frees us from the law and makes us dead to sin (6:2-4). He explains that just as Christ was raised from the dead, we are given new life in Christ (6:4). Our old unregenerate self was crucified with Christ so that our body of sin might be done away with (6:5-6). Because we have died to sin, we now submit ourselves to God being that we are now under grace, not the law (6:8-1...
