Restoring the Image of God.

Can you see the picture of a beat up and rusted old motor vehicle or an extremely neglected house? You may ask yourself how something so beautiful became so neglected and uncared for? Did it just get old? Or did the owners just stop caring for their property? If we are not careful our knowledge of the Lord if neglected and not cared for, can become unrecognizable to those we are trying to portray Him too. Accurate knowledge of the Lord is necessary to communicate to others who God is, otherwise the picture we are telling may be an inaccurate picture, and we become liable for not telling the truth, when we know better.   Artificial Intelligence now can create images and video that look so real, and convince you that you are seeing something real, when in fact you are seeing something created by a computer and something not real. The impression you get comes from a false or distorted reality. Our understanding and knowledge of God can be the same. It’s true, that some people a...

Catholic Identity.

I was born into the Catholic Church and was baptized as an infant, I had my first communion and reconciliation as a child, and was confirmed as a teenager. Although I was never devout, I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Saviour when I was 21 through an evangelical Christian radio ministry, which in turn gave new life to my Catholic faith. Although I remained a Catholic, I identified as a born again Christian. It wasn’t until much later in my life that I learned the difference between the two denominations and what they taught about being born again. Regardless, there was a significant change in my life back then, which continues to this day. Being Catholic is much like an identity to me and I remember growing up under the papacy of St. Pope John Paul II. The culture I grew up in was largely affected by his papacy, and the way the culture viewed the church was significantly different from the way the current culture views it. Growing up, the pope didn’t try to be rele...

Righteousness.

Christians believe that we are made right with God through faith in the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, but because we are justified through Christ, does that give us licence to sin and live any way we want? The world has tried to redefine sin, and has actually tried to portray some sins as being virtuous, but there is nothing virtuous about sin. Our position in Christ must reflect our practical application of living out our faith. Doctrine gives us a foundation on how to do this. Church doctrine never changes with the time, because if it did, then the nature of our salvation would change also.   If a church leader tries to redefine sin, or make something acceptable, which goes against long standing church doctrine, then he compromises his own righteousness and the righteousness of others because he is saying that something is true, when in fact it isn’t. We cannot be in right standing with God if we are teaching things contrary to what the bible teaches. Why does our modern cult...

Concept of Love.

The concept of love is diminishing right before our eyes, just as the Bible predicted would happen in the last days because of lawlessness. However many people live in ignorance of their lack of love for humanity. Just as a blind man is unaware visually of his surroundings, sin blinds us to the love that can exist in our hearts, and that longs to be expressed to God and to others. Love is not lust or a selfish reach of power, in order to control and manipulate things and events.   It’s hard for love to flourish or to be nurtured in an environment that has become increasingly selfish and violent, and then love becomes despised in those who have forgotten what it is. Love itself becomes dead in those who have forgotten God. We can’t live in a caring society that glorifies things like death and selfishness, but Jesus Christ predicted that society would lose its way before the second coming, (Matthew 24:12). Awakened love in the soul always gives life, it never takes it away, th...

Materialism and Your Sanctification.

When I was younger I began a practice of meditation. My spiritual life had been eclipsed by selfish living and pursuing a materialistic life shortly after becoming a born again Christian. My excuse was that I was young and I hadn’t really thought of living a holy life, until I became so miserable that I felt I had no choice but to seek God again. I took on a new mindset in life, and I stopped pursuing materialistic things in my life like partying, drinking, drugs, and women. I was never really money motivated, but my beliefs about money changed too. I didn’t want to become a hermit, so eventually on my new path I would seek and find employment. What brought me happiness at this point in my life was my pursuit of God. I began a meditation practice and all that stuff that the world says it needs to be happy no longer made me happy. What made me happy was the joy I felt while practicing meditation. I believed in God, so it wasn’t a Buddhist meditation, it was a mixture of Hinduism a...

We Need a Culture Shift.

In the 80’s and 90’s of the last century there was more importance placed on how we treated one another, especially the poor. Human rights violations had the attention of the free world, and would garner the attention of the media through organizations like Amnesty International. We are currently living in a culture now that places more importance on money, status and power, and lacking these, your voice goes largely unheard. Corporations have a monopoly on our economy and work hand in hand with the government, which makes the agenda of the powerful more important than those who have nothing.   In the past, religious groups were more respected because they truly were there to help the vulnerable and the poor, but now what money politics has done is persecuted some religions throughout the world, and as a result the poor are suffering. They use the social agenda of the rich to feed an unhealthy balance of power, and pour more and more money into war, thus feeding the destruct...

Selfishness: “The Devil Made Me Do It.”

When we are children we are dependent on others to meet our needs and when we don’t get something we want we get upset. The problem is that we have a whole generation of adults who have not learned the lessons of selflessness. We are told now that if we aren’t looking after number one, then there is something wrong with us. We are being taught that our needs are more important than other’s needs, and adults act like children now, trying to control and manipulate others in order to get their needs met. It’s all about a rights society that we even try to control all aspects of society, government etc. until we get our deserts before dinner. We are not learning the lessons that previous generations learned, that we are interdependent and we need to live our lives in an unselfish way. When there is a limited amount of cookies at a party, we should be learning how to share, not petition the party host to go out and buy an abundance of cookies for everyone, even though it might be a ha...
