What is the Sabbath Day?

In history religion has taught that God created the world in six days, and on the seventh day God rested from His work. In the Ten Commandments God originally told the Israelites to rest on the seventh day, because God rested from His work on that day. Throughout time, mankind has chosen to honour God’s word by resting on the seventh day. What we need to understand is that the Sabbath day is not forced rest. Jesus said in the New Testament, Then he said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. (Mark 2:27) What Jesus was saying is that God created the day of rest for man. It was His way of Blessing mankind for the work that we do during the week. God wants mankind to take one day a week, traditionally it was Sunday, and to go to church.   God knows this life is hard, so He ordained one day a week that we should rest. For some it can be a Saturday, but the principle exists, not to make us lazy, but to change the rhythm of our lives, so that we don’t for...

What is the Antinomian Heresy?

While this heresy takes shape in church history, there are modern versions of it in our time. Antinomianism is the belief in “no law”. More specifically it’s no belief in a divine or moral law. While in Christianity we believe that we are not under the Old Law, divine and moral laws still exists and should be obeyed. God’s nature hasn’t changed just because we have a New Testament and when people try to say that there is no law, they commit this heresy. As soon as people’s sins brings them to the point that they want to redefine divine laws, spiritually they are in serious trouble. People can become beast-like in their desire to sin, and I personally believe we can cause serious problems in nature when you tamper with the divine laws. What are divine laws? These are laws that God uses to govern people and the universe. Some are natural laws and some are moral laws. When we break these laws, there are consequences that naturally follow, like when we break an arm or a leg. We begin...

Is God Sovereign over Nature?

God is sovereign over nature and the forces of nature. In His Providence He either causes or allows natural disasters, calamities, earthquakes, viruses, and so forth which means that in God’s Providence He is in full control over what He sends or allows! God’s all-governing will doesn’t just have an awareness of when things live and die, they don’t do so without His knowledge and consent. God governs our lives and our deaths, and His governance over Creation and our lives are intended for us to give Him thanks and praise through our rejoicing! (Romans 1:20-21, Psalms 104:31, 33-34) At our redemption this current Natural created world will give us mercy without pain. The mysteries of this our natural world, are to stop our mouths and to cause us to be in awe of God. For He is merciful and compassionate. (James 5:11)   Just because the Lord in His Providence is sovereign over nature, which includes our lives and our deaths, doesn’t mean that we sit back and do nothing. God has...

Why We Can’t Rest.

“Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy.  9  Six days you shall labor and do all your work,  10  but the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your male or female servant, nor your animals, nor any foreigner residing in your towns.  11  For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.” Exodus 20:8-11. While there is no law in the New Testament to keep the Sabbath day, the principal is still a teaching of the New Testament. Hebrews 4:11-13 reads:    11 “ Let us therefore strive to enter that rest, so that no one may fall by the same sort of disobedience.  12  For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow...

Churches Should have the Right of Self-Determination.

We are living in a time of restrictions. Many people feel that their rights are being infringed upon. There are medical rights, and the rights of religious freedoms that come to my mind, in the mist of a global pandemic. Places of worship have guaranteed that people can still practice their faith, while at the same time guaranteeing the government that they will obey pandemic safety restrictions and public health measures. Many places of worship have had to restrict their congregations and some have had to close down permanently because of the restrictions.   Like many small businesses that couldn’t stay afloat because of lockdowns and restrictions, many people of faith have had to stop attending religious services because they are considered a “gathering” by some, who are opposed to people of faith “gathering” because of fear of contacting or passing on COVID-19 or one of it’s variants. Many people of faith have stopped attending church or other places of worship, because t...

The Wrath of God.

If we forsake God, He will forsake us. The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness,  19  since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them.  20  For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. The bible goes on to say that although they could know God, they chose not to know Him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. God pours his wrath upon humanity when He clearly says that He can be known, but we choose to suppress that knowledge and truth, and live our lives like He doesn’t exist. God gave us life, and we will never be happy until we choose to believe in the Lord. People think they are smarter than God, and we feel that we don’t need ou...

On Rights and Freedoms.

Does religious freedom impinge on people’s right to life? Do my religious actions during a pandemic put other people’s rights to life in jeopardy? What is the greater right? Religious freedoms or my rights to life and safety? When religious rights impinge on the rights to freedom and safety of other people, constitutionally the rights to freedom and safety win. It can be argued that without religious freedoms the rights to freedom and safety wouldn’t exist, but you would have to prove that without religion the rights to freedom and safety are self supporting. If it couldn’t be proved religious freedom would win. In a purely secular world you can argue for a self supporting right without the bible, but in a world that is still influenced by the bible it would be harder to prove, unless that country or world has drifted so far away from the bible, that it no longer recognizes it’s truths or availability. In that case, a self supporting right could be proved. Where do our rights com...
