What Our Judgment Reveals?

The end of life is not really the end, but the beginning of eternity. What we have done on earth will be judged, and all the secrets of our hearts will be revealed. While we live this life, we have no way of seeing into a person’s heart, but when someone stands before God, He sees it all. We will have to give an account of our lives after we die, and there is no real way to be prepared for it unless we love and know God now. God is a forgiving God, and it is through Jesus that our sins are forgiven.   God knows that we can’t know everything here on earth, but He has revealed His truth to us. It doesn’t matter the degree to which we believed the truth, what matters is did we live it? Only God can judge us to the extent to which we lived the truth, so in a real sense our judgment is the same, with varying degrees to which we are rewarded or punished. Our deeds don’t save us, it is our faith that God will look at in order to really determine if we truly believed the truth or no...

Will History Repeat Itself?

Because of the resurrection of Jesus Christ, history is constantly moving forwards. We are all collectively heading towards the end of time, and the consummation of the ages, which will result in a new world, and a new heavens, (Revelation 21). But does the not so old saying that “history repeats itself” or in the words of philosopher  George Santayana (1863—1952) “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it” ( The Life of Reason: Reason in Common Sense.  Scribner’s, 1905: 284) .  What do these words mean in the modern era of the 21st Century? Because Christians believe history is progressive, based principally of the resurrection of the Saviour, what does the saying that ‘history will repeat itself’ mean in the Common Era? First, we need to acknowledge that we all learn from history. Society learns valuable lessons from our past, but if we as a society stop applying those lessons to our current society, we are condemned to repeat what we failed t...

Why the World is in Moral Decline?

Mankind has forgotten the truth, and this is why most of the world is declining morally. The Holy Spirit lives on this planet, but the Bible teaches that mankind has an eternal choice to accept or reject the truth! People have become selfish and have placed greed and money above right living, and the search for God. When people forget God, and suppress His existence, humankind enters an existential crisis and looses it’s identity. Moral decline happened in the times of Noah, and God sent a worldwide flood to destroy mankind. Apart from God, human beings have no real goodness or righteousness in themselves.   When people try to be good apart from belief in God, the source of all goodness they are relying on their own fallen human natures to be in right standing in God’s sight. Apart from the sacrifice of Jesus, mankind has no forgiveness. When religion is suppressed mankind becomes their own god, and becomes an idolatrous people. Idolatry is not just worshiping idols, but it ...

The Reason Why We Hope.

11  For the grace of God has appeared, [ h ]bringing salvation to all people,  12  [ i ]instructing us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live sensibly, righteously, and in a godly manner in the present age,  13  looking for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of [ j ]our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus,  14  who gave Himself for us to redeem us from every lawless deed, and to purify for Himself a people for His own possession, eager for good deeds. (Titus 2:11-14) The grace that appeared is Jesus Christ. He brought salvation to the world through his sacrifice on the cross, and taught us all to live righteous lives. He said he would come again, so the church waits in hope for the second coming. So Christ also, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time for salvation without  reference to  sin, to those who eagerly await Him. (Hebrews 9:28) Without reference to sins means that...

Why Passive Euthanasia is Morally Wrong.

I have witnessed this first hand in my life, and in fact at first I had no idea what I was seeing. Palliative care is passive euthanasia, by definition they remove all life giving and natural support from the dying person, so that they will die naturally. But my argument is, is this actually a natural death? To die naturally, nature must have it’s natural place in supporting the person’s body as much as nature intended it to. To remove food, or drink, does not mean that the soul is dying naturally! If the illness prevents that person from eating or drinking, to eliminate unnatural death, that soul must choose artificial means to stay alive in order to truly die a natural death.   Keeping a person alive, so that they can truly die with dignity doesn’t mean passive euthanasia. I remember a time when this was forbidden. Why does this matter? It matters because all life is sacred, and in my faith the body is sacred. It should be treated with respect, even though it is dying. To ...

Vulnerability, and Why it frightens us.

The definition of life, is something that is full of life. We say we only have one life to live, unless you believe in reincarnation. The question we are asking ourselves is wrong and creates anxiety, because the question is "How do we eliminate suffering?" We are not a religious society anymore, so humans place absolutely no value on suffering anymore! Instead we try to eliminate suffering and in the process miss out on part of the meaning of life. We have forgotten Jesus on the cross, and the amount of suffering that God the Son underwent to purchase our freedom and salvation. Part of the reason why humanity devalues suffering is because they no longer see suffering as redemptive.  No longer do Christians pray for a happy death, now an oxymoron, but they pray for a quick exit from this life and a glorious entrance into the life beyond. Suffering for your faith is avoided at all costs, and the promise of a hedonistic after life, devoid of holiness is what most people want! ...

The Sheep and the Goats.

The following is from Matthew 25:31-46. From the Message Bible. 31-33  “When he finally arrives, blazing in beauty and all his angels with him, the Son of Man will take his place on his glorious throne. Then all the nations will be arranged before him and he will sort the people out, much as a shepherd sorts out sheep and goats, putting sheep to his right and goats to his left. 34-36  “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Enter, you who are blessed by my Father! Take what’s coming to you in this kingdom. It’s been ready for you since the world’s foundation. And here’s why: I was hungry and you fed me, I was thirsty and you gave me a drink, I was homeless and you gave me a room, I was shivering and you gave me clothes, I was sick and you stopped to visit, I was in prison and you came to me.’ 37-40  “Then those ‘sheep’ are going to say, ‘Master, what are you talking about? When did we ever see you hungry and feed you, thirsty and give you a drink? And when d...

Romans 10, MSG.

Romans ten is a message about Salvation! I want to share with you what it says, and I am using the Message Bible. The words here can save your soul, and bring clarity where there is confusion. Ask God to reveal the meaning of these verses, and pray for the wisdom to understand. This is Mike.  10  1-3  Believe me, friends, all I want for Israel is what’s best for Israel: salvation, nothing less. I want it with all my heart and pray to God for it all the time. I readily admit that the Jews are impressively energetic regarding God—but they are doing everything exactly backward. They don’t seem to realize that this comprehensive setting-things-right that is salvation is   God’s business, and a most flourishing business it is. Right across the street they set up their own salvation shops and noisily hawk their wares. After all these years of refusing to really deal with God on his terms, insisting instead on making their own deals, they have nothing to show for it. ...

Why God is Present in Time.

You might think that God is a distant deity, that His existence is apart from time, but you have a wrong view of God’s abiding presence. Time is something that the Lord created, He fully exists outside of time in eternity. There is not three Gods, but One God in three distinct persons. God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. When a person gets saved or born again, the Holy Spirit essentially takes up residence in that person’s physical body and their spirit or soul. God essentially lives inside the body and soul of a person who is born again, that is why the bible says “be holy for I am holy.” (1 Peter 1:16) There is no being holy, apart from the Holy Spirit. The Spirit uses all conditions and circumstances and people in a believers life, to make that person holy. God is holy, so to live in His presence now, and eternally one must have the Holy Spirit. You cannot buy the spirit, he is given freely when one repents of their sins and trusts in Jesus Christ as Lord and ...
