Are we in the Last Days?

Are we in the Last Days?

7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are but the beginning of the birth pains.

Matthew 24:7-8 | ESV

From the time of the early church, Christians expected the immanent return of Jesus Christ. We are now living in the 21st century and Christ hasn't returned yet, but the Church still believes in his immanent return. Most of the world will be caught off guard, and that is a shame because Jesus warned us in the gospel of Matthew chapter 24, that there are things that will be happening in the world before the resurrection of the dead. The world is already in a state of unrest, and the church is mostly unprepared for his coming, but you don't have to be. One of the things Jesus promised was that his gospel would go out to the ends of the world, before his return, and that is what is happening despite world wide persecution of Christians and the bible! In fact, that also was predicted by Jesus. 9 “Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and put you to death, and you will be hated by all nations for my name’s sake. 10 And then many will fall away and betray one another and hate one another. 11 And many false prophets will arise and lead many astray. 12 And because lawlessness will be increased, the love of many will grow cold. 13 But the one who endures to the end will be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.

Matthew 24:9-14 | ESV

We shouldn't be surprised that there is chaos in the world because Jesus predicted it, and we don't need to fear or panic. If we know the Lord, he will uphold us. As Christians we need to live in His presence and pray. The Lord didn't leave us alone he gave us the Holy Spirit, which the world cannot receive because it believes not on Him, and God left us the bible. The greatest gift to humanity is the Bible. In it we learn how to behave, and how to have faith. The bible gives me faith when I read it, and if you read it properly it should give you faith and love for God, and your neighbour.

In the bible we read about God's heart for us, for the world, and for Israel. In Joel chapter 3 God warns that at the end of the world he will judge people and nations for how they treated Israel, here is a portion. 1  “For behold, in those days and at that time, when I restore the fortunes of Judah and Jerusalem, 2 I will gather all the nations and bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat. And I will enter into judgment with them there, on behalf of my people and my heritage Israel, because they have scattered them among the nations and have divided up my land,"

Joel 3:1-2 | ESV

In the book of Romans, God also promises that all Israel will be saved, 25 Lest you be wise in your own sight, I want you to understand this mystery, brothers: a partial hardening has come upon Israel, until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in. 26 And in this way all Israel will be saved, as it is written, “The Deliverer will come from Zion,he will banish ungodliness from Jacob”;27 “and this will be my covenant with them when I take away their sins.”

Romans 11:25-27 | ESV

I believe this is national Israel. Regardless, we as Christians have nothing to fear. God promises He will be with us to the end of the age, and my hope for you is that you will trust that the word of God is true, and reliable. This is Mike.

On Christian Marriage. (Short)

On Christian Marriage. (Short) The modern co-habitation crisis has produced a lot of single moms and dads, and has fractured "family units" allowing other family members and relatives to take a bigger role in these "Separated families." There isn't a "one cause" why families have separated or divorced, it is a complicated issue, sometimes resulting in very hard emotions for Society to process. Things like the "millennial sexual revolution" have contributed to the widespread "non-committal" attitude, which in turn has given the traditional marriage the "black eye" it currently has and has turned many Christian men away from seeking a life partner. The more society devalues "traditional marriage" the more co-habitation you will see in all the other generations as well as the Millennials. This is Mike.

Why Christians must show Mutual Concern for One another.

Look and see, there is no one at my right hand; no one is concerned for me. I have no refuge; no one cares for my life. Psalm 142:4. Christians in the church should have mutual concern for one another, this is what it means to be part of the body of Christ, 1 Corinthians 12:25. It’s takes good pastoral leadership to foster this sense of concern, and where it is missing, individuals who are suffering in the church are overlooked and not supported. Every believer needs support and encouragement, but when this is missing, the church divides and loses it power and testimony. Christians live like the world, and become vulnerable to Satan’s attacks when nobody is supporting them outside the church. I used to belong to an evangelical church which had great leadership, and something called small groups. This church felt like a family and I had people who shared my Christian walk with me when I was not in the church building. I have been attending a different denomination that doesn’t hav...

The Biblical Meaning of “Life in the Spirit.”

“Life in the Spirit” is an example that the Apostle Paul gives in the book of Romans starting in chapter 5 and going through to chapter 8. He begins by telling us we are justified by faith (5:1), and have gained access by faith into the grace of God (5:2). We have been delivered from God’s wrath (5:9) and we have been reconciled to God through the death of His Son (5:10). He goes on to explain that through Adam all die (5:12), and that the free Gift of God brings justification and righteousness to the believing sinner (5:15-17).   Through our conversion we are baptized into Christ and into his death, which frees us from the law and makes us dead to sin (6:2-4). He explains that just as Christ was raised from the dead, we are given new life in Christ (6:4). Our old unregenerate self was crucified with Christ so that our body of sin might be done away with (6:5-6). Because we have died to sin, we now submit ourselves to God being that we are now under grace, not the law (6:8-1...
