Happy Birthday Mom!

Today is my mother's birthday. She normally doesn't like me telling her age, so I will honour that request today. My mother was born in the little Italian village of San Sisto which belongs to the municipality of San Vincenzo La Costa, in the province of Cosenza, region Calabria. She came from a poor family, with two brothers, the oldest who is now in Heaven, the youngest who lives in Toronto, and one older sister. I grew up very close to my mother's side of the family, and enjoyed the benefits of being half Italian, and half Irish decent. I am a Canadian Roman Catholic, and my family on both sides are Roman Catholic. My mother met my father in Chicago, in their high school and married at the early age of 20 and 21. They are still happily married and the grandparents of a little boy. I remember my mother's father, and my mother's step mom very well. My mother's natural mom passed away when she was a young girl, and even though I never met my Nona, I ha...

My Journey with God.

I became a born again Christian in 1995 through a radio ministry called "Hope for the Heart." I was struggling with a sexual sin, that was keeping me trapped and I learned that through the blood and the cross of Jesus I could be free from that sin. I was at work, and immediately after the broadcast I memorized their number, then after, called the ministry. I learned through material they sent me that my sexual sin was something I could be free from, and I confessed that sin to God and He freed me. I learned what the bible said about my sin, and I also heard the plan of salvation for the first time. To me church was something you did on Sunday, but being a Christian was never my identity. When I learned who Jesus was for the first time it was a revelation that changed my life and my understanding about Heaven. I was apprehensive about receiving Jesus as my personal Lord and Saviour, but I did it anyway. In fact, I did it twice that night, just to be sure it took. And all these...

Shine a Light on the Darkness.

I hope you still believe in good and evil, surely we haven't reached the point where these two terms are relative? I hate to see the bad guys win in life, but we have been living in a world where truth has become relative. I am a part of the catholic church, and experienced a crisis in faith when one of our leaders accused the Pope of a cover up. Many Catholics were silenced and made to feel that their faith didn't matter. We have remained intact to a certain degree, but this crisis just reflected the crisis that is going on in the world right now between atheism and belief. There are more atheists in our world now than there has ever been in history, and some of you reading this just might be one of them. You might ask why has unbelief in God become a trend in the 20th and 21st centuries? I think we have reached the point where we can no longer blame it on the believers, because for a while there we were getting blamed. I personally think it is a heart problem, or a sin prob...

A Heaven for the Lost and Forgotten.

Life can be unfair at times, or even for seasons, but what I want to reflect upon today is God's justice otherwise known as Heaven. When we think of God's justice we might think upon the punishment called hell, but for the millions who are experiencing a nightmare of an existence right now through social injustice, or any kind of injustice, or who are poor or sick, Heaven is and has to be the ultimate destiny and justice for social outcasts. With that said, I have been pondering at what Heaven will be like when God remakes this world. There are many theological ideas, based on the scriptures, and I don't think that this picture that I am going to paint of the eternal Heaven differs at all from all of the theological exegesis of what heaven is. Obviously we can't know everything about God justice, but the light of human conscience can give us clues to the rewards that God has in store for all those here on this earth who will make their eternal home with God on a rebui...

The Possible Complete Decline and Collapse of moral North America.

The Possible Complete Decline and Collapse of moral North America. It is clear that biblical morality has been on the decline in North America since September 11th 2001. With the former World Trade Towers disaster in New York City, the world was plunged into a religious and moral decline that in my opinion, will take centuries to recover from. No religion is to blame as a result, in my opinion it is an absence of peace in our societies, that is a result from the tragic events in 2001 and the moral and religious divisions that we were plunged into daily as North Americans. This absence of peace in our societies has produced a dark religious vacuum for many of us who don't have any religious affiliations, and has created a huge problem for those of us that do. It created a legalistic environment and structure (and exclusivity) to the gospel in (some) of our churches because of fear of continuing persecution. The current church has become very protective of their doctrine, becau...
