The church in it's essence is a means for personal sanctification or holiness, that people through the word of God or the bible might be prepared for Heaven and keep the world in check through it's personal witness and holiness. The church of Jesus Christ was never meant to be an unholy place for sinners to continue in their unregenerate and unrepentant selves, it was meant to bring the message of repentance and faith to a lost world. The church in history was meant to shine a light on the injustices in society, alleviate the suffering of the poor and oppressed, and bring salvation through the message of the cross to all those who were oppressed. The gospel or the Kingdom of Heaven (or God) that our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ taught was a salvation from our sins, any other message that the church teaches is a false gospel.
