Mental Health Recovery is hard work.

In 2016, I became a published author for the Canadian Mental Health Association. There was much excitement while the book was being released, and published. The book is a compilation of stories from real people, who have been touched by mental health in some way. I remember reading the book for the first time, which included my story "Created for Joy." I remember trembling at the intensity of the stories, and felt a little overwhelmed and grateful to be a part of project like this. The book is called "Hearts Linked by Courage" the second in a series of books, published by IC Publishing in Canada. The author is the Canadian Mental Health Association in York and South Simcoe. Since the publication of the book, I realised I had a lot more to learn, (and I am still learning) that recovery takes a lot of work. With a diagnoses like mine, not only do I need to take meds for the rest of my life, but what I have been finding really difficult is dealing with the stigma tha...

Life without an Agenda.

What is an agenda? I think it is more than just plans, purposes and dates, but truly all these things come into factor when you feel like your life has some greater purpose. I don't want to define an agenda, you can check a dictionary, you see it's part of my agenda to show you that life can be much more happier when we make room for spontaneous choices and decisions, which should illicit a form of happiness that we might have forgotten. As we get older, we soon realise that we no longer have an infinite amount of time, and if we don't set some "rules" for ourselves we could end up unprepared for old age. When we participate in life, we come across all kinds of agendas that some people like to live their lives by. You might have heard of churches pushing discipleship courses and groups, and there is nothing wrong with leaders wanting to create order, but the minute you reveal something that is hidden (like an agenda) you become the target of that organisation/pers...

When to say Stop God!

Many Christians these days have a distorted idea of who or what God is. If you are smart about it, any concepts you gain about the God of the Bible should be drawn from the Bible itself and the Christian tradition. When you run into problems about the nature of God, and you will if you live long enough, lets say that your life sort of starts to resemble the life of Job, you can turn to the nature of salvation in times in your life to comfort you. Doctrine about salvation says that there is a Hell that mankind must avoid, but living in the 21st century talk about Hell is non-existent now, which it is my desire to see more and more people start to fear this reality of the afterlife. I cannot remember the last sermon I heard, which the preacher instilled a healthy fear of God in their hearers. In fact I am listening to Christian teachers as I am writing this, and evangelical Christians these days think that because they are saved, they have already escaped the judgements of God that take ...

Does a lifestyle of repetitive sin mean you won't go to heaven?

The short answer to this question is yes. I am not hear to give you a detailed quality answer to this question, but because all human beings struggle with sin, the better question should be why do I sin so much? If Christians are the only ones going to heaven, the us on the other side have nothing to worry about, because God won't judge us, only his elected. Non-Christians are predestined for hell as Calvin taught, so why would anyone who is not saved in their right mind, try to be good enough to God to go to Heaven if they were (as Calvin taught) destined for hell? Unless, non-Christians are saved, then the whole Christian religion is in vain, because if sin sends anyone to hell and Christians openly admit that they have sinned, (Romans 3:23 NIV) " for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God", then no one is going to Heaven. The question to ask is why is it that Christians, who were once like us sinners, have been saved and the rest of mankind is going to he...
