What is Presence?

  If you’re a Christian you have heard of God’s presence, but what is presence, and how can we give our presence to other people? Presence is about connecting to other people in a full and embodied way. The danger with technology is that we can exclude people from our physical presence even if we are present with them in the room. You have heard the saying “give me your attention” but being present for others is not just a brief moment, but a continuous sustained presence which takes ability. Being physically absent, and withholding your presence from someone, feels almost the same! Life demands that we remain present for it, you have heard the saying that this    person has “checked out” of their life, but when we “check out” on other people, it can be just as much disastrous. Kindness.

  Kindness is a quality that we should never lose. It’s something we teach our children and it’s something that makes our society better. The Bible is filled with admonitions about kindness, so why do we see a lack of kindness in our society? People have drifted away from God and the Bible, so Christian qualities are quickly being ignored and forgotten by our society. Titus 3:4-7 says;  4 “But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, 5 he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, 6 whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 so that being justified by his grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.” Cruelty has a negative affect on us as humans, by nature we know that cruelty is wrong, no one likes to be mistreated.
