Why the Modern World?

Since the first advent of Jesus Christ, the world has been living in the age of the church. We call this the modern era in today’s vernacular. Does the modern world have an expiration date? The answer is yes! Some theologians call the time we are living now the post modern era. While that is a term I have heard, the modern age or era will only really end when the church age ends. The bible doesn’t teach that we will know the time when this happens, but it is the time of the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. Matthew 28:20 “teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you. And lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.” Amen.     No matter what shape the secular world takes, the modern world will never cease to be until the church is taken off this planet through the rapture. At that point the modern world will be transformed into the system of the anti-Christ. The governments of the world will be united at that point, there will be a one wo...

Why the law Doesn’t Save Us.

Galatians 3:7-9   Understand, then, that those who have faith are children of Abraham.  8  Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, and announced the gospel in advance to Abraham: “All nations will be blessed through you.”[ d ]  9  So those who rely on faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith.  This is the doctrine of Justification by faith. We are not justified or made right in God’s sight by works or what we do. Our right standing with God comes by faith in what Jesus did for us on the cross, there is no other way we can be justified or forgiven unless we demonstrate continuing faith in the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.  Galatians 3:10-14    For all who rely on the works of the law are under a curse, as it is written: “Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law.”[ e ]  11  Clearly no one who relies on the law is justified before God, becaus...

Memories of my Grandmother.

Her name was Lena Finnerty and she passed away April 14th 2020. It was during the current COVID-19 crisis, but her passing was not related to this disease. It was hard letting her go because we couldn’t be at her bedside because she was in a long-term care facility. However, I did get to see her in her care home before she got really sick, (before COVID-19) and I was able to wheel her around on her wheelchair. Grandma lived most of her adult life single, her husband passed away when I was just a kid, and I didn’t really know my grandfather. Grandma Lena was a real estate agent when I was growing up in London, and from what I was told and witnessed, she was London Ontario’s best at times.   I enjoyed going to her house when I was growing up. Some of my favourite things to do at grandma’s house was to play the organ. I imagined myself a young Mozart, without any piano lessons, I would make up chords and sounds and fill her living room with my made up music. I liked watching TV...
