The smell of a Fresh New Year.

I have always thought it interesting how we take events from the past and link them to the present. But what gets under my own skin is how we can be emotionally crippled by traumatic changes that our spirit went through and hasn't had the time to adjust or process now. Life is definitely not predictable and in the course of our own events, we sense the 'deadness' of a past that has long left us. Like Lazarus in the bible it appears that our past has come alive, and in one sense we can never escape the experiences of it (memory) and what seemed dead had become a very real presence in our future. I have been pondering the thought that if a person changes their identity, what really remained of their old one? The bible says "as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he" and if I have changed my physical appearance or something like that, what ingredients remain in my new state in the present? I would say that unless something dies, you are still the same person. Christ
